Send your kids back to school with PakNaks

Next week, Tessa and Reed will head off to school with some new friends on their backpacks.
Reed chose Ralph the dog, Earth, the planet, and Tabby the penguin.

Tessa chose Damsel the dragonfly, Squishes, the dolphins, and Minty the pair of hearts.

(Upfront disclaimer: we received these 6 PakNaks (value $24) for porpoises of sharing our honest opinions.)

What exactly are PakNaks? From the PakNak site:
PakNaks are fun soft rubbery 3-D decorations for kids (and adults too!) to personalize all of their stuff. Backpacks, lunchbags, headbands, computer bags, household items, the list is only limited by your imagination.

Each PakNak comes with one of 40 plus designs and customized velcro® that makes them interchangeable, weather resistant and quickly and easily adhered to your surface.
The mom view:

The kid view:

Tessa says, "If I get tired of them one way, I can change them to another way. Besides, they are so cute!"

Reed says, "I like them because you can switch them all over the place! They are cool and so colorful! Whoever invented this is a really good inventor because he made a really good idea of what to do, so THANKS!"

(I swear, this is exactly what he said, and he really does speak in exclamation points!!)

The inventors are two moms in Portland, OR who run their business with a sense of social responsibility.

I give PakNaks thumbs up as well. They seem very sturdy, are amusingly whimsical, and my children have so far been unable to destroy them.

PakNaks is holding a Back-to-School special. Head over and look at the 39 designs and make your selections. At checkout, enter code PAK20 and they'll knock 20% off your order.

I only wish they'd invented PakNaks back when I was sewing all those badges onto my Girl Scout sash.

Reed does talk in exclamation points!!!

These are WAY cute! Why didn't they have this cool stuff when we were kids???

Oh...did we have velcro back then? :)

Girl Scout badges aren't for velcro, they are forever. No one can take that balsa wood birdhouse woodworking badge away from me, dammit. (Oops, Girl Scouts probably don't swear.)

The PakNaks are cute and all, but what kind of name is Minty for a pair of hearts?

@Sheri: I remember Velcro being everywhere when I was in 1st grade, the year after I painfully learned to tie my shoes. The delay was good thing, I guess, or maybe I would never have learned to tie a bow.

Therefore I think there was no velcro when you were Tessa and Reed's ages.

They look perfect for personalizing backpacks. Thanks, Lori. This reminds me, I owe you a couple write ups, I have to call my flakey artist friend and get motivated. Mwah!

Very Cute! I can see my kids needing to "Collect them all", their favorite saying thanks to commercials!
