There's a new salsa in town. Well, only four towns, for now. LA, Dallas, Phoenix and Denver are rolling out three variations of Rosarita salsa, available at select Walmart and grocery stores. My household received 3 jars to test out: Mild, Medium and Hot, all made in Mexico.
I tried the Salsa Verde (Medium) on my recipe for Chicken-Sour Cream Enchiladas.
So here's what my crack team of holiday testers had to say:
Mild: "Mom! It's spicy!" (from my children who have fairly adventurous palates.)
Medium: "Oooh! This is hot. Can I have some ice cream?"
Hot: "Love it. Has a slow heat that sneaks up on you."
The capsaicin dial has been turned up, making Rosarita an excellent choice for the adventurous tongue. If you're looking for a kick and you live in one of the lucky cities, pick up some Rosarita the next time you're in the Hispanic foods aisle.
